Searching for a treatment of piles can be an overwhelming one. Just think, you have countless natural foods, an endless list of expensive pharmaceutical products lined up for you, and then you have the mass medium of the internet with freedom of speech that guarantees you’ll come into ownership of misleading information at some point. It’s scary, dangerous and very stressful.
That’s why I have written this article to list you everything the unsuspecting hemorrhoid sufferer (you, I daresay) needs to know to get on the right track, and start heading in the right direction.
If you know me, and you have read any other articles on the site, you’ll know that I’m a big advocate for natural remedies. If you choose to follow my advice we’ve immediately made your decision a lot easier because we’ve removed pharmaceuticals from the equation.
So, now you’re in a position to sculp a diet that’s perfectly suited to curing hemorrhoids once and for all – an exciting but also overwhelming prospect.
Ever since I first suffered with hemorrhoids I have developed a deep interest in the medicinal features in foods. I haven’t suffered with hemorroids now for over 3 years, but still I look out for these ‘miracle’ foods and treatments.
I have listed 14 remedies in this article, and that’s plenty to get you started. However, if you want more of my personalised miracle foods and treatments you’ll have to grab my guide at the bottom of this article which includes no less than 49 of the top treatments I have stumbled upon over the years that have proven effective for hemorrhoids.

Other Solutions that I DON’T recommend
Creams and Ointments -
I’ve written an article specifically about hemorrhoid creams and ointments that you can read by clicking on the link. But I will outline what creams and ointments can do for you in this article.
Hemorrhoids creams and ointments are applied to the area of infection and provide relief and relaxation.
Cream is a topical treatment that’s rubbed onto your outer rectal area and aims to soothe blood vessels – Tucks® Hemorrhoidal Ointment (formally Anusol®) is an example of this. The purpose is to relax the tissue so that it doesn’t bulge out so much. This is great for some relief in the temporal matter but unfortunately you are practically guaranteed to flare up again.
Suppositories -
Suppositories are a hit and miss deal. They are inserted into the rectum to provide moisture and lubrication to the hemorrhoid(s). This means that the hemorrhoid(s) can heal.
Some people find that they work wonders, and others find that nothing changes – it depends on the strain you place the area under and the severity of your hemorrhoids.
They may be worth a try, but they are not as effective as having a good diet.
Pills -
Hemorrhoid pills regulate blood pressure in your body. Ultimately, their purpose is to strengthen vein tissue so that you have less chance of having problems with hemorrhoids.
While the results are relatively quick, they also come with their fair share of possible side effects such as nausea, effects on vision and drowsiness.
Use at your own risk.
Surgery -
Surgery should be the last resort for hemorrhoids, only after you’ve exhausted ALL other options. If you have been suffering from hemorrhoids for a long time and have consulted your doctor then surgery may be needed.
| Method | Details |
| Rubber Band Ligation |
In this approach small rubber bands are applied to the base of the hemorrhoid, effectively suffocating the hemorrhoid. |
| Sclerotherapy |
An agent (either liquid or foam) is injected into the offending varicose vein, sealing off blood flow. |
| Cryotherapy |
Liquid nitrogen is used to freeze the infected varicose vein preventing all blood flow to the hemorrhoid. |
| Infrared coagulation |
A very powerful infrared beam is used to burn off the hemorrhoid |
| Hemorrhoidectomy |
This is the most severe operation you can have with general anesthesia or spinal anesthesia for complete removal of hemorrhoid(s) |
Unfortunately surgery comes with many possible side effects including:
- Future weaknesses to infection and physical damage
- Negative bodily reactions to surgery
- Operating mistakes
