Today, I’m going to introduce you to hemorrhoid creams. I’ll share with you my personal experiences of using all types of hemorrhoid creams; from big brands such as Tucks® Hemorrhoidal Ointment (formally Anusol®) to smaller, low-cost options that you probably haven’t heard of.
You’ll discover a little-known cream that is almost completely unknown in the western world. It’s not only half the price of larger brands, but twice as effective.
And I’ll uncover the dirty secrets of pharmaceutical companies who produce these products, and why no matter how super-effective a cream is, you are practically guaranteed to suffer with hemorrhoids again in the future.
Hemorrhoid creams are a very common approach to treating hemorrhoids before reverting to more severe methods such as surgery. But their ultimate success rate is a stark reminder of how they should be used…
When I first suffered with hemorrhoids I followed the advice of my doctor, why wouldn’t I, right? I was in a lot of discomfort but I felt very reassured that I was in the right hands.
My doctor confidently prescribed me Tucks® Hemorrhoidal Ointment, one of the best hemorrhoid creams in the opinion of most doctors and rather potent. Being prescription-only it has a higher level of corticosteroids in comparison to OTC creams.
Simply put, corticosteroids are a class of steroid hormones that reduce swelling, and the more severe your hemorrhoids, the higher a dosage you generally need.
My case was not severe, as my doctor had noted, but she had confidence that this cream would remedy the issue fast and effectively. Sure enough, within several weeks I had ridden myself of hemorrhoids. I was feeling comfortable just hours after using it for the first time. With absolutely no side effects I was making plans again for leading my normal life.
To my horror, just 3 months later I was showing symptoms of hemorrhoids again – bleeding while passing stools.
I could have got another prescription for Tucks® Hemorrhoid Cream but I knew at this point I may once again suffer after putting it aside. I wanted to cure hemorrhoids entirely, not subscribe to a lifetime of expensive cream every single day.
I immediately started to research all I could about hemorrhoid creams, both online and in books. Undeniably, cream was not the ‘cure’ I thought it was. Cream is a great short term ‘fix’. It treats the symptoms of piles well like bleeding, itching and burning. However, symptoms represent the outer layer of health problrms and as such, topical treatments like cream don’t treat the root problem of hemorrhoids.
This was so important to know – I could have spent hundreds on creams over months, even years!
Onwards from reading about hemorrhoid creams I researched the bigger picture. I was now looking for the cure.
After 6 months of research it was clear. There was only one sure way to cure hemorrhoids. I needed to change my diet. I’d also discovered a nasty fact that would change the, previously good, relationship I had with my doctor…
Doctors are compensated for referring patients to drugs developed by pharmaceutical companies. This is why your doctor doesn’t give you a list of supermarket foods that will no doubt be more beneficial for you in the long term.
It gets worse, not only does this encourage doctors to make referrals that are not in your best interests, the treatments are actually made to be as temporary as possible – so they can sell more stock and make more money!
You’d be forgiven for thinking that I am completely against hemorrhoid creams but that would be wrong.
Hemorrhoid creams have a place. They should be used to relieve pain and discomfort temporarily, giving you the opportunity to live your life normally and most importantly, change your diet! My advice is to use cream initally as per your doctor instuction, and to start a good diet/exercise program at the same time.
As your symptoms begin to fade through using the cream you’ll be able to phase out of the cream and rely solely on your diet/exercise program. It takes time for diet and exercise to show positive results, the cream simply serves as a jump starter as it were.
I am going to share with you, a magic hemorrhoid cream…
Where it lacks in strength it makes up for it with a clever formulation and very affordable price point. Ma Ying Long is a little cream with a big punch. It’s low-cost, completely safe, pain relieving and stimulates new tissue growth immediately. This is the product I used after Tucks® failed and I went looking for an OTC treatment. It wasn’t just ‘as good’, it was better.
I would apply the cream after showering and feel immediate relief. Straight away, I was comfortable enough to go shopping (for my new diet, of course) – I had learnt my lesson.
If you would like more information on hemorrhoids I highly recommend you visit the Wikipedia page for hemorrhoids. It’s full of professional advice that goes into more depth that I can provide in this article.
But, if you enjoy my writing style I encourage you to read my article on piles symptoms for a look into the early signs of hemorrhoids.
To repeat the most important message of this article, cream is a fantastic solution for bringing immediate relief. With that, however, you have to accept that it is strictly short-term only.
Possible Risks
I have received the same question quite a few times now about hemorrhoid creams, I think it’s time I broadcasted my answer to all of you ladies. The question I recieve is generally around this idea:
“Can I use hemorrhoid cream on my face to hide wrinkles?“
Well, I’m afraid my answer is an emphatic NO – I’ll explain why in a moment. First I will explain the actual question incase it has completely flummoxed you. Rumour has it that hemorrhoid creams are great anti aging and puffiness solutions for your face, and I can’t deny it, it’s true. (Ask me how I know.) However, there are some other facts that you should consider first.
These creams are developed to be used for the short term only. They are potent (they contain steroids) and are only meant to be used temporarily until your piles have subsided. Using hemorrhoid cream for a week or two is harmless. But use it every day for months on end and your facial skin will not only be thinned, but you’ll be at risk to other health issues such as cancer. In very rare cases you can even have allergic reactions that cause death.
Now, you may disagree with me here but I think people are generally cured of hemorrhoids before they are cured of their vanity – hence why you don’t want to start using them on your face.
If you are in the market for a skin supplement I recommend this great anti aging formula that helps to firm, hydrate and tighten your skin. I use it personally and have referred it on to friends. To find out more, click here.
